Tutto Sport JOMA® are the new sponsors of the Men’s National Handball Team. On behalf of Tutto Sport of Paola, Mr Mr. Eligio Vella presented the new JOMA® playing kit to Mr. Joseph Tanti, the men’s national team coach.
The association’s CEO, Mr. C. Borg Conti, expressed gratitude to the company, “such a sponsorship will definitely help the association in its international commitments, the first one being in a few days’ time in Brescia, Italy.”
The association has embarked on a year long preparation programme leading to the EURO 2020 Qualification with Phase 1 being held in June 2017. The preparation programme will see the national side take part in various friendly competitions both locally and abroad in preparation for this very important event. The last time the association took part the EURO Qualifiers was back in 2012 when the team was drawn in Group 4 playing hosts Turkey, Latvia and Estonia.
National Coach, Mr. Joseph Tanti, said that the team needs more match practice and the association is working hard to provide as many games as possible throughout the year before the qualifiers. The first set of games will be held this weekend in Brescia. The national selection will be participating the Trofeo di Leno from the 2nd – 5th June. Malta will be facing strong sides from the Italian Serie A, the Bosnian and the Swiss top divisions. The players have been training for the past month. Tanti explained, “We will be focusing to consolidate its defensive work and fine tune its fast transition while trying to improve its set attack”.
The team selected for this tournament will be made up of Daniel Tanti and Clinton Mifsud as keepers, Aidan Tanti, Jerome Zammit, Alan Portelli as wings, Alex DiPilato, Chris Magro, Imed Ben Moussa, Christian McClean, Karl Baldacchino, and Peter Naudi as backs with Jeremy Fenech and Damaian Gargano as pivots. Mr. Joe Attard will be accompanying the team as Head of Delegation.
