Malta lost the third and final match vs Armenia 21 - 12. Yesterday, Malta lost to Cyprus 29 - 10. During the first minutes of the match, Malta were leading 4 - 3 thanks to solid defending and great goal keeping by Marylyn Aguis. The match kept on the same balance, with both teams trying to edge in front. As time went by, Armenia changed the match around to their favour. Following some good handball from both sides, Armenia took the upper hand and equalised mid-way through the first half.
In the second half, despite trying to make a comeback, Malta struggled to stay in contention. Armenia proved to be superior as their fast breaks and stat play and were very effective. Armenia stretched their lead thanks to some good goals by Number 6 Antoyan.
Malta Goals Haber and Vassallo 3 goals each, Camilleri 2 goals, Bezzina Ellul Farrugia and Barry one goal each.
Malta Right Back Brenda Camilleri was selected by the four team representatives as the best right back player in the 2010 Women's Challenge Trophy Star Team.

The National ladies team will start its Challenge Trophy commitment today with a match against hosts Israel. Following a brief meeting with the Maltese Ambassador for Israel and a morning training session, the team is now getting ready for the match which will start at 3.15pm local time. Spirits are high and the team is very motivated to give its best effort to obtain a result that reflects the true potential of our side and one that reflects the work done in the past few months.
