Kavallieri Handball Club was founded in 1996. The club first took part in the league during the 1996/1997 season. Julian Xuereb was in charge of turning several friends into a handball team. The following year Kavallieri merged with Pembroke Athleta and participated in the league with two teams, Kavallieri Athleta and Kavallieri Balzan. In that year they also set up the ladies team which participated in every season from then on. Although not always rosy with the number of players increasing and decreasing all the time, Kavallieri gave a good account of themselves for two further seasons until 2000/2001 season when they merged with Methode Electronics.
During the last seasons they continued to consolidate themselves and now have two teams in the men’s leagues (1st Division and 2nd Division) and a ladies (2nd Division) team. The club also competes in the Boys and Girls Under 17 and Under 15 leagues and cups. Giving a total of seven teams for this season. Kavallieri Handball Club won the Men’s Knock Out in 2006/7 and in 2008/9. The club also recently had several successes at juniors level both in the girls’ and boys’ categories by winning consecutive leagues. During the 2012/2013 season the club also won the Men’s 2nd Division League.
In recent years the club has embarked on improving it club nursery, by introducing handball to children as young as four years. We also are active in St. Joseph Sliema and Blata l-Bajda, where our coaches organise training sessions for Girls aged 9 to 15. The club also has a collaboration agreement with St. Martins Swatar where we provide most of our nursery program. We also organize a summer school for different age groups usually at the handball outdoor court in Mosta.
